There is a new keyboard on my desk

As I don’t have much news at the moment and this blog hasn’t been updated in two months, I decided to share with you all one of my new gadgets: Kolude KD-K1 keyboard.

Because it was about time to change the keyboard I’ve been using daily for the last few years, I opted for this Kolude version because, besides having backlight keys, it also works as a hub (which helps organize my desk by removing the necessity of a dongle hanging on my MacBook – it is installed on an ergo-stand).

The keyboard hub has the following ports:

  • HDMI 2.0, 4K/30hz UHD
  • USB 3.0 x3
  • USB 2.0 x1
  • USB C x2 (charging and data transfer)

The complete specs list is available on the product page. I bought it during a pre-order on KickStarter early this year, allowing me to take advantage of a discount.

Although the keyboard is wider than I’m used to (Apple Magic Keyboard 2) due to the number pad, I enjoy it. Its keys sound good, typing on it is comfortable, and it is beautiful when its keys lights are on.

In addition to the keys being better than the ones on the Apple Magic Keyboard 2, the fact that the hub is in a more accessible position (literally within reach of my hands) added another level of practicality to my routine since I don’t have to go looking for longer cables to recharge headphones or other devices.

In summary, if you are looking for a new keyboard and your computer doesn’t have lots of ports, I highly recommend Kolude KD-K1 🙂
